• We endeavour to take all special needs children the year before school, however we have limited access to funding for additional needs children so we can only take a limited number over the week. If after you have put your child’s name on our waiting list, you later find that they require extra support, you must contact the Preschool. A recent developmental assessment must be given to the Preschool by October the year before your child is due to start to enable applications for funding.

• Please note that this waitlist does NOT guarantee your child a position at our preschool. It is your responsibility to notify the preschool of any change of address, contact telephone numbers or email so you can receive an offer in due time. We do not ring you with an offer, we send an email so please check spam and junk.

The adults in our family have been fully vaccinated against COVID19 (you will not be able to enter the preschool if you are not fully vaccinated).We may ask to see proof of vaccination upon entry.

If you receive a Health Care Card the total fee is:

Total: $11.00 ($1.00 GST inclusive)

The following cards are valid:Pensioner Concession Card (means tested), Centrelink Health Care Card, Department Veterans Affairs Card and Temporary Residence.

It is the responsibility of families to present your card to the preschool.

Priority of Access

• **At least 4 years old on or before 31 July in the year the child attends preschool and is not in compulsory schooling; priority will be given to children who turn 5 in their preschool year (enrolled year), enrolment as long as they have been placed on the waiting list by May of the previous year; or

• At least 3 years old on or before 31 July in the year the child attends preschool and identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

• At least 3 years old on or before 31 July in the year the child attends preschool and has additional needs (as defined in the Disability and Inclusion Program Guidelines); or

• At least 3 years old on or before 31 July in the year the child attends preschool and is at risk of significant harm (from a child protection perspective).

• At least 3 years old on or before 31 July in the year they attend and from a low income (i.e. the child’s family must be holders of a Health Care Card) * where the child is a named dependent on the card; and

* The Federal Government has confirmed that Health Care Cards issued in the child’s name only are not means tested. Therefore, children with their own Health Care Card will not be eligible. This includes Foster Care Health Care Cards and Health Care Cards for children with additional needs.

Waiting List:

• Parents can put their child’s name on the waiting list in the year they turn 2 years old.

• Please note: A copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunisation record must be included with this wait list application.

• Parents can visit the Centre (COVID dependent) and complete an application form to go on the waiting list. Forms can also be found on our website or forms can be emailed. A fee of $38.50 (which includes G.S.T of $3.50) is required. If a parent is on a low income or pension the fee charged is $11. ($1 GST). Card must be shown.

• Please note the registration fee is non-refundable.

• Being on the waiting list DOES NOT GUARANTEE a place at the centre OR guarantee enrolment on the days selected.

Allocation of Places:

• Days of attendance for children returning to the preschool are organised in late May / June.

• Remaining spaces are allocated to eligible children on the waiting list.

• Please note that children who may be eligible for school commencement the following year but intend on returning for a second year of pre-school, may be given a Thurs/Friday placement as older children are given priority in the MTW group.

• The director places children at the preschool considering the intended year of school commencement, age, family circumstances and personal needs.

• In June/July, parents of eligible children will be notified by email of an available place. CONTACT BY EMAIL DOES NOT GUARANTEE A PLACE. Upon receiving the letter of offer (sent via email), you will be asked to pay a deposit of $350. This deposit is non-refundable if you do not attend but will be refunded in the 4th term or if a family leaves through the year and the required amount of notice is given.

• If the preschool does not receive this deposit by the due date stated on the letter we will assume that you no longer require the position offered and will take your name off the waiting list.

• If you would like different days than stated on the letter, please ring us to discuss, if you do not reply we assume that you do not want any position at all.

• It is YOUR responsibility to notify the school if you change your address and telephone number AND email address.

• Parents are required to fill out an enrolment form before your child starts and to bring with them their child’s immunisation statement at the beginning of the New Year to be photocopied and filed.

Please note, our Aim is to provide every child on our waiting list with one (1) year of Pre-School, before they enter Formal Education.

Please Note:

In Consultation with the Directors and Committee members, the Waiting List may be closed during the year to eligible children (children who will be turning four (4) years old on or before 31st July the following year) as there is deemed to be sufficient children on the list to fulfill vacant spaces in the following year.

Exceptions: New resident in the area (proof of previous address is required), providing a position is available.
